Thats When Your Heartaches Begin meant a great deal to **Elvis Presley**, which was chosen as the B-side to his 1957 hit record [All Shook Up](https://youtu.be/FO4Fxf9eixA ""). An 18-year-old Elvis had attempted to impress the owner of the Memphis Recording Service with the song almost four years prior, hoping to catch the attention of producer **Sam Phillips**. Although Phillips was absent that day, his assistant **Marion Keisker** took notice of Presley's performance and recorded it for Phillips to hear.

On July 18, 1953, Presley recorded his first demo disc, [My Happiness](https://youtu.be/Ng4GgGLaOFU "") with [Thats When Your Heartaches Begin](https://youtu.be/0iqcZ1-KIzY ""). Although his attempt to cover all of the **Ink Spots**' classic voices may have been comedic, there's no doubting his love for the song, an early example of the playful and creative nature that he displayed during many of his sessions at 706 Union Avenue.
