Always On My Mind was written by **Wayne Carson**, who collaborated with songwriters **Johnny Christopher** and **Mark James** to complete the song. That same year, **Elvis Presley** recorded his version during the March 1972 sessions at RCA Hollywood, which was released later in 1972. A decade later, [**Willie Nelson**](https://youtu.be/fA-kdZ5dbYk "")s rendition, produced by the legendary Chips Moman, became a major hit.
