On February 18, 1969, three superb masters were laid down in an evening where everyone worked hard. One listen to the session tapes proves this. Not completely satisfied, a weekend date of vocal repairs and harmony vocal overdubs, this was an opportunity to make things even better. **Elvis Presley** would never be as consistently great in the studio ever again. Do You Know Who I Am? appeared on RCA's October 1969 double LP release _From Memphis to Vegas / From Vegas to Memphis_. The ballad has always responded deeply with fans.

The song title is one of many from the Memphis sessions that carry a subliminal message. It seems to ask, Do You Know Who I Am? Elvis worried he would be forgotten. This tension added to his desperate need to re-establish himself, producing some staggering music.
