On a Wednesday evening, February 19, 1969, from night into the early morning, Kentucky Rain was recorded at American Sound Studio. The song, co-written by future country music star **Eddie Rabbitt**, represented a flawless match of exceptional new material and unparalleled talent.

The track came to life through the visionary producer **Chips Moman**, the brilliant Memphis Boys house bandfeaturing **Reggie Young** on guitar, **Gene Chrisman** on drums, **Bobby Emmons** on organ, **Tommy Cogbill** on bass, and **Bobby Wood** on pianoand the otherworldly voice of **Elvis Presley**.
